The Balvenie unveils batch two of Tun 1509

The Balvenie has revealed details of the second batch of Tun 1509 – a single malt Scotch made from 32 different casks set to launch globally in July.

Malts from 23 traditional American oak casks and nine European oak Sherry casks were all transferred to Tun 1509 where they were aged for several months before bottling.

Batch two of Tun 1509 is said to is said to offer aromas of honey, orange peel, sweet oak vanilla and a delicate ginger spiciness.

Its flavour is described as richly sweet, with honey, tangy citrus, vanilla and subtle notes of cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.

Each bottle of Tun 1509 includes “in-depth” details of the whisky with visuals displaying the flavour profile of each of the 32 casks involved in its creation, as well as the overall character of the end product.

The second batch of Tun 1509 has a higher abv strength of 50.5%, is non-chill-filtered and is set to launch globally from specialist whisky retailers in July at an RRP of £250.

William Grant replaced its successful The Balvenie Tun 1401 last year and replaced the annual series with Tun 1509 after production became “too impractical”.
