Chivas Brothers’ star whisky, Ballantine’s, only recorded 2% growth in 2014, but compared to other Scotch whisky goliaths included in this countdown, it is certainly an achievement. The brand managed to retain consumer interest through a range of marketing innovations, such as the launch of a new online golf club for golf fans, and also captured the attention of the on-trade through its bartender-focussed Bar Project.

Ballantines? William Peel? William Lawson’s? These brands aren’t even heard of let alone drank in Scotland. So much for authenticity.

  2. James Weir says:

never heard of william peel and i’ve been born and bred in scotland.

  3. Noel Moitra says:

Lawson’s 13 YO and Ballantines 17/25 YO are excellent blends. I am surprised at William Peel’s continued stay in the top 10-I’m not overly impressed by it. Moreover, I expected Grant’s 9 YO peated blend to climb the bandwagon.

  4. Juan San Claro says:

But Scotland as a country gets nothing from these whiskies!
