Gin Brand Champions 2015
By adminGIN BRAND CHAMPION 2015: TANQUERAY
Tanqueray’s clever marketing campaigns and new bottle design helped boost its sales last year
Clever campaigns, celebrity influences and a continued gin resurgence have seen Tanqueray’s sales soar this past year. The Diageo-owned brand’s growth rate almost doubled in 2014 compared to the preceding year, increasing by an impressive 9% and trumping Bombay Sapphire’s 7% hike.
Diageo partly attributes Tanqueray’s success to “craft distillers entering the category and tinkering with different botanicals”, as well as the redesign of the Tanqueray No. Ten bottle.
As the only two gin brands to grow in 2014, the signs indicate consumers are switching to super-premium offerings.
