Calabrese creates world’s oldest Martini
Famed bartender Salvatore Calabrese has created what is thought to be the world’s oldest Martini containing gin and bitters from 1900.

Created at his namesake bar in Las Vegas, Bound by Salvatore Calabrese, based in The Cromwell Hotel, the Martini is a combination of Park & Tilford New York gin and orange bitters, both created in 1900, and Noilly Prat vermouth circa 1890.
Calabrese will serve the Martini at his bar inside London’s Playboy Club from 15 April.
In 2012, Calabrese – known as “the maestro” – broke the Guinness World Record for creating the most expensive cocktail, costing £5,500.
The cocktail, called Salvatore’s Legacy, was revealed at the time to also be the world’s oldest, containing liqueur and Cognac from the time of the American Revolution and Captain Cook’s claiming of Australia.
Calabrese’s record was later broken by Australian bartender Joel Heffernan and his The Winston cocktail, costing £8,200.
