The finalists have been selected following a series of national competitions held throughout the year and will now take part in two days of training with Bacardi brand ambassadors and other industry experts before presenting their signature cocktails.

A panel of judges will then select eight bartenders to go through to the grande final on Sunday 3 May at Sydney’s Town Hall where they must compete in front of more than 400 people.

The grand final will be judges by José Sanchez Gavito, Maestro de Ron Bacardi; Steve Schneider, from New York’s Employees Only bar; Ago Perrone, winner of the very first Bacardi Legacy; and Tom Walker, the current Bacardi Legacy champion.

Walker, bartender at The American Bar at The Savoy, was named winner of the 2014 competition in Moscow, impressing judges with his Maid in Cuba cocktail.

Last month, Ally Martin, of London’s Peg + Patriot, was crowned winner of the 2015 Bacardi Legacy’s UK final.
