New 75% abv gin could be UK’s strongest
By Amy HopkinsA Swedish distillery has launched what it claims could be the strongest gin available in the UK, an “uncut” London dry variant with an abv of 75.3%.
Strane Uncut Strength could be the strongest gin available in the UKStrane Uncut Strength has been distilled in small batches in a 100-litre pot still at the Smögen Distillery – one of the first distilleries in Sweden to create single malt whisky.
To create its Strane gin range, including Merchant Strength (47.4% abv), Navy Strength (57.1% abv), and now Uncut, the distillery blends varying quantities of three gin bases.
The “exceptionally strong” Strane Uncut Strength is described as “rich in juniper, lemon peel, sage and mint”.
“Strane Uncut is not an everyday gin, but a remarkable experience for serious gin lovers, and a marvellous addition to the Strane London Dry Gin family,” said Robert Ransom, UK importer for the brand, who also said he is not aware of another gin in the UK market that is stronger than Strane Uncut.
The expression is available to buy at Oxford’s The Feathers Hotel – which previously held the Guinness World Record for owning the largest collection of gin.
It is also now available to buy from Master of Malt for £58.45.
