Cocktail courier service launches in US
By Melita KielyA cocktail delivery service that supplies all the ingredients needed to recreate drinks from leading bars, including spirits, liqueurs and garnishes, has launched in Chicago.
Chicago consumers can recreate cocktails from top bars in the comfort of their own homesCocktail Courier first launched in New York two months ago, but has already expanded to Chicago as a “natural second market”.
The concept is the brainchild Scott Goldman and his brothers, Curt and Ryan, who plan to take their company to San Francisco later this spring.
“We’re living in a golden age of cocktails,” said Goldman, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. “As much as the consumer has shown an appreciation for well-made drinks, most of us are also relatively inexperienced and intimidated when it comes to making great cocktails at home.
“With such a great culinary scene here and vibrant cocktail market, it made sense that Chicago would be the next city on our radar.
“Chicago people have more square footage in their homes compared to New York and they host more parties.”
Goldman continued to explain that the company hopes to “demystify” the process of creating cocktails, complete with instructions on measurements and how to shake or stir the drinks.
Cocktail Courier packages cost between US$36 and US$90 and are delivered on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with guaranteed next day delivery if ordered before 9pm.
Boxes are made using both premium and craft brands, and costs include cash tips for the bartender who designed the cocktail.
