Artist creates limited edition Ballantine’s bottles
By Amy HopkinsBallantine’s Scotch whisky has partnered with renowned “GIF-iti” artist INSA to launch a 12-strong range of hand painted limited edition bottles.
Ballantine’s new limited edition bottles will go on display at London’s Original Sin barThese bottles have been filmed to create an animated GIF and will be displayed in East London’s Original Sin bar.
Brand owner Pernod Ricard said the animation was part of its bid to find “new ways to present the brand in a digital space”.
It follows Ballantine’s initial partnership with INSA earlier this year with the creation of the world’s largest animated GIF – a huge animated art piece that was filmed at its four stages of creation by a satellite orbiting 431 miles above the earth.
The brand’s collaboration with INSA is part of its Stay True global campaign.
To create the new range, INSA hand painted his trademark “Looking for Love” inverted hearts on 12 bottles, which each feature a unique design evolving across the collection.
Once completed, each bottle was photographed. These photographs were then edited to create the GIF.
“Rather than just produce another limited edition bottle, I wanted to try out a new idea and take my GIF work to a three dimensional item, and animate across its surface,” said INSA.
“The Ballantine’s rectangular bottle was a great shape to work with. Creating the Space GIF-iti film with Ballantine’s was such a monumental achievement and it was exciting to extend our collaboration.”
The bottles will not be available for sale, but consumers have the chance to win one bottle from the range through a competition on Twitter and Instagram using the @originalsinbar handle.
