Luxury 1800 Tequila carries $2,000 price tag
Jose Cuervo has partnered with LA designer Gary Baseman to create a US$2,000 decanter of 1800 Colección Tequila.
Each decanter of1800 Colección Tequila by Gary Baseman retails for US$2,000
The decanter, named Sirena Del Deseo, (meaning Mermaid of Desire), features a “new school” style silver mermaid wrapped around a traditional bottle of 1800 Tequila.
The stopper, which features a statue of a skeleton, also doubles up as a shot glass.
The design is said to mirror the tale of a Mexican warrior who perished at sea after searching for an enchanted mermaid.
The decanter itself, of which there are just 40 available, is said to have taken Baseman three years to create.
“I am incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to work with 1800 Tequila to create an iconic decanter to celebrate such a special spirit,” said Baseman.
“This design exemplifies my appreciation of Mexican culture, craftsmanship and creativity. I hope that tequila aficionados everywhere will have the opportunity to experience 1800 Colección and that this special decanter will become coveted by art collectors and tequila lovers alike.”
The Tequila itself is a double-distilled añejo aged in French oak barrels for over three years.
Each decanter comes with a separate bottle of the 1800 Colección Tequila. The expression is being distributed by Proximo Spirits in the US.
