Cointreau Blood Orange launched as TR exclusive

Cointreau is expanding its portfolio with the exclusive travel retail launch of Cointreau Blood Orange.

Cointreau Blood Orange is expected to “bring new energy” to the spirits category in travel retail

A new interpretation of the traditional Cointreau recipe, the new expression has been created by master distiller Bernadette Langlais using blood oranges from Corsica.

Langlais specifically chose fruit to be harvested when its skin contains the highest concentration of oils to give a more robust flavor during the distillation process.

Langlais said: “I have put all my passion and dedication into creating the Blood Orange expression of Cointreau. On the nose, Cointreau Blood Orange offers a voluptuous bouquet that opens to reveal a cascade of zesty citrus notes. The interplay of three orange varieties creates a profoundly rewarding complexity of taste.

“This is a spirit of exquisite fullness. Its natural brio offers a vibrant new twist on the classic, inimitable Cointreau signature.”

Cointreau Blood Orange, which has an abv of 40%, is presented in the brand’s signature square bottle with a burnt orange hue.

It will be officially unveiled at IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas on 23-25 March at Rémy Cointreau Travel Retail’s stand, 113.

Matthew Hodges, marketing director, Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail, said the new expression will bring “new energy” to the spirits category in duty free.

“Cointreau Blood Orange encapsulates the free-spirit of ‘la Parisienne’, part of the DNA of la Maison Cointreau, and it is guaranteed to seduce independent women travellers all over the world.”

The liqueur will be available in travel retail stores from May 2015 with an RRP “in line” with one-litre bottles of Cointreau.
