Woodford Reserve Rye makes its debut
Woodford Reserve is adding a permanent Kentucky straight rye whiskey to its portfolio next month, although distribution will initially be restricted to certain parts of the US.
Woodford Reserve Rye is only the third permanent addition to the Kentucky Bourbon brand’s portfolio, joining Double Oaked and Distiller’s Select.
Master distiller Chris Morris has used a mash bill containing 53% rye to build upon the spice characteristics of the original Woodford Reserve.
Jason Kempf, brand director for Woodford Reserve, claimed the decision to launch a rye came after the group received multiple requests from consumers.
“Time and time again, we kept hearing requests for a rye,” he said. “Woodford Reserve has always maintained a commitment to the spirit of innovation, and the rye is no exception.
“We’re excited to give our fans something they’ve been so vocal about for so many years, and that is finally ready to share with them.”
The 45.2% abv rye whiskey will be available in California, Colorado, Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington from February 2015.
It will carry an RRP of US$37.99.
