Douglas Laing unveils blend of ‘maritime malts’
Scotch whisky bottler Douglas Laing has released a new blend created using “maritime malts” from islands such as Jura, Islay, Arran and Orkney.
Douglas Laing has unveiled Rock Oyster Scotch whisky – a blend of whiskies from across the Scottish isles
The expression, called Rock Oyster, is said to “pay homage to the sea” with its “oceanic character” and notes of sea salt, sweet peat, honey and pepper.
It has been released as part of Douglas Laing’s regionally-themed blends, including Big Peat from Islay, Scallywag from Speyside and Timorous Beastie from the Highlands.
“Rock Oyster showcases the archetypal Island character of gentle peat-smoke, vanilla, honey and salt,” said Fred Laing, managing director of Douglas Laing.
“If I could select just one dram to transport the whisky enthusiast to the Islands of Scotland, it would be this one.”
Rock Oyster, bottled at 46.8% abv, is now available from specialist whisky retailers at an RRP of £35.99.
In November last year, Douglas Laing released a selection of “antique” Scotch whiskies through its Extra Old Particular (XOP) range.
