Brighton Gin officially hits shelves

The first distillery to be granted a license in Brighton and Hove has launched its inaugural product, Brighton Gin.

Formed in 2013, the Brighton Spirits Company was founded by by wine and spirits PR Helen Chesshire, radio producer and former publican and restaurateur Kathy Caton, founder of the W J King Brewery and chairman of the Small Batch Coffee Company Nigel Lambe, drinks editor of The Spectator and wine editor of The Field and Boat International Johnny Ray and physicist Dr Ian Barry.

The company is keeping the complete list of botanicals largely under wraps, but have revealed the recipe includes juniper, fresh orange and milk thistle creating a gin that is “wonderfully refreshing when served with tonic, ice and a slice of orange”.

The first batch of 400 bottles has now been completed and is being distributed throughout Brighton and Hove.

Brighton Gin will be available to purchase in seelct Brighton and Hove in pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants and will also be available to buy from Butlers Wine Cellar, Quaff Wine Merchant, HisBe and Twenty One Wines.
