UK festival to showcase record number of mezcals
Visitors to the Tequila and Mezcal Fest in London this weekend will have the opportunity to taste more mezcal brands than have ever been under one roof in the UK.
Tequila and Mezcal Fest will launch in London this weekend
According to the show’s founder Eduardo Gomez, so-far 17 Tequila brands and 20 mezcal brands will be exhibiting on 22-23 November at Grange Tower Bridge Hotel.
The festival, which features agave-based spirits from some of Mexico’s finest producers, aims to have a long-term effect on the Tequila market in the UK.
“We want to try and change people’s perceptions of mezcal and Tequila through the festival,” said Gomez. “People are still drinking the cheapest Tequila because they don’t know how good it can be, so our aim is education.”
The festival will feature live musical entertainment, food pairings, and Mexico-focused art and photography exhibitions alongside a series of expert-led masterclasses looking at Tequila and mezcal’s production and consumption customs.
There will also be authentic Mexican food stalls, educational films and live ice carving demonstrations.
Exhibitors already slated to take part include Olmeca Altos, Ambar, Cabrito, Don Julio, Jose Cuervo, Ocho, Centinela, Del Maguey, Herradura, Los Danzantes and many more. Other Mexican drinks showcased on the day include Bacanora, Raicilla and Sotol.
Those wishing to attend the festival are advised to book tickets in advance by registering online at www.tequilafest.co.uk, or email marketing@tequilafest.co.uk.
