World’s first whisky-flavoured crisps launch
Crisp fans with a taste for Scotch whisky will be able to combine the two after the launch of the “world’s first” whisky-flavoured crisps today.
Scottish company Mackie’s claims it has created the “world’s first” whisky-flavoured crisps
Created by Scottish firm Mackie’s at Taypack, based in Perthshire, the new whisky and haggis-seasoned crisps combine flavours of sherried whisky Aberlour a’Bunadh, The Famous Grouse and single malt Talisker for a “spicy” note.
The whisky-flavoured snacks are currently available at Scottish Co-op stores and will be rolled out to Tesco next month and Asda in October.
Mackie’s hopes the new flavour will do well in its current export markets, including Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Middle East due to the global popularity of Scotch whisky.
“We felt it was time to add a Scottish twist to the range as our Scottish flavours have always been very popular,” said George Taylor, managing director of Mackie’s at Taypack. “We were particularly keen to try a whisky seasoning as Scotch is renowned across the world.
“We tried various combinations and the whisky and haggis pairing came out on top.
“We are very excited to see the market’s reaction to the new flavour lines.”
