Zuidam unleashes its own Old Tom and Aged Gin

Dutch distiller Zuidam has latched onto the recent trend for traditional gins with the launch of aged and Old Tom expressions.

Zuidam’s new Dutch Courage Old Tom and Aged Gin are available in global markets now

New to market this summer is the Dutch Courage Aged Dry Gin, which uses the same recipe as the distiller’s Dutch Courage Dry Gin with the addition of being aged in 200-litre American oak casks for nine months.

The aged gin is described as “dry and fresh with a wonderful softness” and is available in global markets for an RRP of £30 for 700ml.

Also introduced is Dutch Courage Old Tom Gin, which has been made to a traditional recipe with 10 botanicals, including juniper, elderflower, iris root, coriander, angelica, sweet oranges, whole lemons, liquorice root and vanilla.

The distillates are diluted before ageing in wood for a short period to reflect the shipping and storage of the style in the 18th century.

It will also be available in global markets at an RRP of £28 for 700ml.

Gin producers across the world have been turning to traditional recipes over the last few years as a means of innovating within the category.

The trend has resulted in a raft of new Old Tom and barrel-aged gins, with Bacardi, Pernod Ricard, Cognac Ferrand and many other craft distillers all releasing their own.
