New gin featuring skull art launches in UK

D1 London Gin, a new spirits brand which features work by a famed contemporary artist on its packaging, has launched in the UK.

D1 London Gin is said to combine the “traditional British distilling craft” with London couture

Following an exclusive six-week listing at Harvey Nichols that began on the 22 May, D1 London Gin will roll out across other select bars and clubs.

The brand is made from an array of botanicals, including nettles that are hand-selected by a master tea blender.

D1 London Gin is contained in a reversible bottle designed in collaboration with contemporary artist Jacky Tsai, featuring his “floral skull” made famous by the designs of Alexander McQueen.

It is described as a “versatile gin combined with contemporary art branding” which seeks to appeal to gin lovers as well as vodka drinkers.

“We are re-defining super-premium gin by combining traditional British distilling craft with branding based on London couture for people who love gin and those who wouldn’t consider a traditionally or heavily botanical-led gin,” said D1 London Gin founder Dominic Limbrey.

“Our innovative design and smooth versatility will enable people around the world to enjoy D1 London Gin in a way that reflects their individual taste and style.”

The gin has been created by the D.J. Limbrey Distilling Co and the Langley Distillery in a in a single batch copper pot distillation in a single batch copper pot distillation process.

D1 London Gin, which is also set to launch in Hong Kong later this year, is bottled at 40% abv and carries an RRP of £39.50.
