Wirtz Beverage Illinois has appointed Johnny Costello as beverage development specialist in a bid to increase in-house expertise.

Costello will be responsible for providing training, education, drink consultation and menu development in support of the company’s restaurant, nightclub and bar accounts throughout the US.

He will be working alongside Eric Hay, beverage development manager, to customise the company’s specialisation in wines and spirits.

“At Wirtz Beverage we doing much more than providing our partners the best products,” said Danny Wirtz, executive vice president of Wirtz Beverage Group.

“Consumers today want to experience a bar menu who’s quality is on par with and even exceeds the dining experience. Our team helps drive that with our customers.”

Costello has experience working at a string of beverage establishments throughout Chicago including Tiny Lounge, GT Fish & Oyster and most recently, The Berkshire Room, and is renowned for using artisanal and high-quality spirits to put a spin on classic cocktails.

“Johnny has nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry,” continued Wirtz. “His talent is matched with remarkable drive and personality. He’s the real deal and together, he and Eric will be a great team and support system for all our partners.”
