M&S CFO joins Diageo’s board of directors
Diageo has appointed Marks & Spencer’s chief financial officer, Alan Stewart, as a non-executive director.
Diageo has appointed Marks & Spencer’s chief financial officer as a non-executive director to its board of directors
Stewart will take up the position on 1 September 2014, while continuing his role at Marks & Spencer where he oversees IT, the supply chain and logistics.
He will also sit on Diageo’s audit, nomination and remuneration committees.
Stewart has previously worked as chief financial officer of leading aircraft leasing company, AWAS, and as group finance director of WHSmith.
In addition, he has also held a series of senior executive roles at Thomas Cook Holdings having spent nine years working for HSBC Investment Banking.
Dr Franz Humer, Diageo chairman, said: “Alan’s strong track record in accountancy and financial management together with his experience in retail, travel and the banking industries will be of great value to Diageo as we continue to focus on driving long-term profitable growth.
