Diageo unveils Smirnoff Gold Apple expression
By Becky PaskinDiageo is to launch Smirnoff Gold Apple following the success of its original cinnamon flavoured release in 2012.
Smirnoff Gold Apple will be a travel retail exclusive for six monthsAfter the successful launch of Smirnoff Gold in early 2011, a cinnamon-flavoured gold leaf-infused vodka liqueur, Diageo is set to introduce a follow-up apple-flavoured expression in global markets.
Smirnoff Gold Apple, set to launch around the world from April, is an apple-flavoured vodka liqueur which like its predecessor contains flakes of suspended edible gold leaf.
“We’ve expanded Smirnoff Gold into a collection as we’ve seen that the liquid complete with gold flakes is something that’s very unique and differentiating for the brand,” said Kathelijne Baauw, director of white spirits in global duty free at Diageo.
“Given that apple is one of the best performing flavours globally, it was a great opportunity to match that with a very high rotating product already.”
The expression will be initially be exclusively available in global travel retail for six months before a domestic roll out.
Smirnoff Gold Apple will retail for around £26 for a one-litre bottle.
