Bacardi launches Bombay Amber cask-rested gin

Bacardi has swayed into the aged gin category with Bombay Amber, a barrel-rested version of its Bombay Sapphire Gin.

Bombay Amber, a cask-rested gin, is presented in a unique, arc-shaped bottle

The super-premium brand extension is being launched as a travel retail exclusive in Singapore Changi airport in a unique new chrome, wood and glass frosted bottle.

The 47% abv London dry gin is vapour-infused with nutmeg, black cardamom and orange zest, before being rested in French vermouth barrels.

Richard Cuthbert, global marketing manager for Bombay Sapphire, said Bombay Amber marks a “significant development” in the Bombay Sapphire brand family, and a “commitment to drive value in the gin category”.

“Our continuing emphasis on innovation enables us to strengthen differentiation and premiumisation in the category through such exciting limited editions as Bombay Amber.”

He added that the new release is designed to encourage up-trading among gin drinkers, as well as attract non-gin drinkers to the category.

“Quite simply, no other gin looks or tastes like Bombay Amber and we are immensely excited by the differentiation we have created with this travel retail exclusive.”

Bombay Amber will also launch at a select few other airports including Sydney from April, and Las Vegas and Toronto airports from May.

It will retail for SGD$55 (£26) for a 700ml bottle.
