Dubai – Q43
In a city that’s all about glamour and bling, the casual, relaxed and unpretentious bar Q43 is a welcome addition to the scene and hopefully a glimpse of things to come. With a ceiling that wobbles, pool tables and a fun drinks menu it’s become the hangout for media types who are living the Dubai dream.
Berlin – Prinzipale
The just opened burlesque bar Prinzipale is Berlin’s answer to 20th Century Paris. The unusual cocktail menu is the brainchild the group of talented bartenders and experts who can be found shaking their stuff in costume behind the bar. With live burlesque shows, open dressing rooms and glamorous drinks it’s the most talked about opening in Berlin so far this year.
New York – Golden Cadillac
Welcome back to 1970’s New York. The cocktail menu at this new retro NYC favourite labels the drinks ‘delicious relics of an era whose goal was to mask the taste of alcohol’ but boy is it in there. Expect Piña Coladas in pineapples, Buttery Nipples and twists on Long Island Iced Teas. Oh and wear disco pants.
Hong Kong – Ham & Sherry
HK’s first sherry bar is home to over 500 bottles of the stuff and is kind of making sherry cool again. Lashings of the finest jamon iberico are served up with a huge range of unique sherries by the glass to taste to your heart’s content. Recently opened but with nightly queues around the block, get here early to avoid disappointment.
Miami – 1930 Social Club
1930 Social Club has just opened in Miami Beach and this throwback to the old school social clubs in Brooklyn is a very welcome addition to the drinking scene. Attached to Lucali, one of the city’s hottest pizza joints, push through the black barn door and enter a scene of vintage wines, candlelight and backgammon.
