£250k spirits trailer stolen from Scottish yard
Police have launched a fresh appeal seeking information about the theft of a trailer containing £250,000 worth of spirits from a yard in Scotland.
The theft of a trailer of spirits amounting to £250k from a Dumfries yard is thought be police to be “well organised”
The “daring theft” happened at the Currie European Transport site on 2 December and Scottish authorities have asked that anyone in the area at the time come forward.
According to detective inspector Colin Burnie, inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
He added: “Although we have not made any arrests or recovered the trailer, we have received some useful calls from the public and ask again that they come forward if they have any information, no matter how small they think it might be.
“In many cases such as this it is amazing how even what is perceived to be the smallest piece of information turns out to be important and fits into the bigger picture, helping the overall investigation.”
Around 2,400 cases of spirits were stolen, the majority of which contained Glen’s vodka along with some cases of brandy, whisky and gin.
It is thought that a white lorry entered the yard at about 5.30pm, attaching the trailer and driving off with it.
Police have previously said they believe the theft was “well organised” and that “the thieves were in the area some time prior to the theft to plan it”.
