Dewar’s celebrates legacy with £2,400 Scotch

Dewar’s is celebrating the 120^th anniversary of its first Royal Warrant with the release of a £2,400 Dewar’s Legacy 1893 Scotch decanter.

The new release from the Bacardi-owned blended Scotch brand commemorates its first Royal Warrant granted by Queen Victoria in 1893, and the subsequent Royal Warrants bestowed upon the brand by every reigning British monarch since.

Presented in a decanter fit for a king, Dewar’s Legacy 1893 is a blend of 20 rare and long-aged whiskies once used by distillery founder John Dewar and sourced from recently discovered stock lists.

The blend is given a second, year-long maturation before being bottled in a bejewelled decanter inspired by the dirk, a Scottish ceremonial dagger.

The decanter itself is crafted with Scottish silverwork engraved with a thistle motif and embedded with 22-carat gold and nine sapphires inspired by the Stuart Sapphire that was owned by several Scottish kings before becoming a part of Queen Victoria’s Imperial State Crown. It is then presented in a walnut and gold metal box.

Dewar’s Legacy 1893 is exclusively available at DFS stores in Singapore Changi airport at an RRP of SGD$4,888 (£2,433) until the end of November, when it will become available in domestic Chinese retail. Just 1,000 bottles of the release have been produced.
