New Absolut bottle pays homage to Chicago
By Amy HopkinsAbsolut vodka has unveiled the latest bottle in its US city-inspired collection – Absolut Chicago.
Absolut Chicago is the seventh flavoured release by the brand to pay homage to a US cityThe limited edition flavoured vodka is infused with olive and rosemary and is packaged in uniquely-designed bottles which have been crowd-sourced through a partnership between Absolut vodka and Chicago-based design community, Threadless.
Maxime Kouchnir, vice president of vodkas at Pernod Ricard USA, said: “Absolut Chicago is a product of creativity and collaboration. By putting the bottle design in the hands of artists, Absolut Chicago inspired hundreds of people to express their creativity through an unexpected canvas.”
Over 170 designs were submitted and 156,000 votes cast by consumers for their favoured image.
Ross Bruggink was announced the winner and described his colourful design as a “stylised cityscape incorporating architectural and iconic elements of Chicago”.
Absolut Chicago is the seventh release in the US brand’s city-inspired flavour portfolio launched in 2007, following Absolut New Orleans, Absolut Los Angeles, Absolut Boston, Absolut Brooklyn, Absolut San Francisco, and Absolut Miami.
The new release is now available in the US at an RRP of US$19.99.
Diageo’s Johnnie Walker Scotch has also recently launched a similar design initiative in global travel retail with its own city-inspired bottles.
