Isle of Arran releases its Millienium Casks
Isle of Arran Distillers is releasing a special charity edition single malt Scotch bottled at the turn of the millennium.
The Isle of Arran Millennium Casks will be released on 28 October
The Millennium Casks edition is a vatting of liquid laid down in 35 Bourbon barrels and 10 Sherry hogsheads on 31 December 1999.
Aged for around 13 years and bottled without chill filtration, The Millennium Casks is said to have a “zesty nose with an edge of spice,” with further notes of “orchard fruits and baked apples, which are complimented by a sprinkling of vanilla and cinnamon” on the palate.
Designed to encourage drinkers to enjoy the whisky while reflecting on the past, the packaging for The Millennium Casks features the two-faced God of beginnings, endings and transitions from the ancient Roman myth Janus, who was able to look to both the past and the future.
Euan Mitchell, manging director of Isle of Arran, said: “We produce whiskies which are consistently high quality and this new edition holds genuine appeal for drinkers as it reflects the importance of the past as well as the future.”
A donation from each bottle sold will be donated to the Arran Trust, a conservation charity that funds projects that look after the Arran environment.
“We want to help maintain the island for future generations and this new whisky release will help us to raise money for charity. We always work closely with the Arran Trust as we have a shared interest and passion for looking after our beautiful corner of Scotland.”
The Isle of Arran Millennium Casks will be available as a limited run of 7,800 bottles in the UK and Europe at an RRP of £64.99 from 28 October.
