First Mexican whisky unveiled

The Best Spirits Company has announced that it is ready to rival imported whisky brands with the world’s first Mexican whisky.

Williamson 18, the first Mexican whisky, will be available in both domestic and international markets

The company has said that new whisky brand Williamson 18 will retail for US$8.00 in Mexico, 20% cheaper than most spirits imported from the US and Europe.

Having obtained all permits and certification from the local government and the Ministry of Economy of Mexico, The Best Spirit Company intends to launch Williamson 18 in both domestic and international markets.

“Our Mexican whisky will also be exported to many countries around the world through a distribution network of class A liquor distributors who will take advantage of this novelty product,” said Jose Luis Perez, general manager of The Best Spirits Company.

“This is a genuine Mexican whisky and is the perfect product for mass consumption.”

Williamson 18, which is produced in the city of Aguascalientes, will be available in 700ml, 750ml and 1,000ml glass bottles as well as “very affordable” 355ml cans.

Perez said that the distillery has capacity to produce 200,000 cases of bottled whisky a year, adding that he expects this amount to increase to 500,000 cases of bottles and 1 million cases of cans by the end of 2015.
