Glen Garioch releases first Sherry cask edition
Highland distillery Glen Garioch has launched its first Scotch whisky matured exclusively in Oloroso Sherry casks.
The Sherry cask-aged Glen Garioch 1999 Vintage “really captures the essence of the Highlands”
Aged for 14 years at the Aberdeenshire distillery, this limited edition Glen Garioch Vintage 1999 is part of the brand’s small batch vintage programme.
With only 1,000 cases available globally, the new expression is said to have notes of fruit, chocolate, treacle, and ginger, infusing a spicy and syrupy flavour.
Rachel Barrie, master blender for brand owners Morrison Bowmore Distillers, said that the dram “really captures the essence of the Highlands”.
“This is an exciting small-batch release that encapsulates the rare find that is Glen Garioch itself and I’m sure will be a favourite with any whisky enthusiast,” she added.
Bottled at 56.3%, Glen Garioch Vintage 1999 will be available from specialist whisky retailers from the end of September at an RRP of £59.99.
It follows the widely anticipated launch of the Glen Garioch Virgin Oak Single Malt Whisky – an expression aged in brand new American oak barrels.
