Having noticed a growing population of artists repurposing Patrón bottles into elaborate pieces of art including chandeliers and vases, the super-premium Tequila brand decided to launch a contest to find the greatest piece.

Brandon Montgomery from San Diego used 52 empty bottles of Patrón to create his chess set and table for the competition.

His piece was selected over nine other finalists, which included a Patrón camera viewfinder; a floorlamp; a chandelier; and a dumbbell.

“Expertly handcrafted, hand numbered and made from recycled glass, each Patrón bottle is truly a work of art unto itself and can be utilized well after the spirit inside has been enjoyed,” said Jennifer Pisciotta, Patron’s vice president of marketing. “’The Art of Patron’ contest is our first competition that officially recognizes and rewards the ingenuity of artists and innovators who are giving the brand’s distinct glass bottles a second life.”

Each finalist was also given US$1,000.
