Russian Standard completes CEDC takeover
Russian Standard has completed its acquisition of Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC), making it the world’s second largest vodka producer by volume.
CEDC’s vodka brands, such as Zubrowka, are now part of Russian Standard’s 34m case portfolio
The takeover, which comes after months of debt restructuring and consolidation, sees Russian Standard and Roust Trading chairman Roustam Tariko gain full operational control of CEDC.
Joining the group’s vodka portfolio – which is led by the flagship Russian Standard brand – are the Russian Green Mark, Parliamaent and Zhuravli brands, and Poland’s Zubrowka, Absolwent and Soplica. All six are domestic market leaders within their categories.
“We now have the most authentic and beloved vodka brands in the most important vodka homelands – Poland and Russia,” said Tariko. “As the vodka category continues its global growth, our diverse portfolio will be able to satisfy the taste of consumers around the world, from price conscious to premium.”
The consolidated business stands at 34 million nine-litre case sales a year, distributed across over 80 markets.
“With this acquisition we have fully invested in CEDC’s brands, in their history and in the people who make them,” Tariko added. “As we move forward, we expect to have many opportunities together. We have greater potential as one company, with complementary brands, segments, import portfolios and export markets.”
