Butler’s Gin claims to be London’s ‘new kid on the block’Britain’s craft gin renaissance is continuing with the launch of Butler’s Gin, a “crisp spirit” produced in Hackney Wick, East London.
Created by Ross William Butler on his speedboat while docked in London Docklands, Butler’s Gin cites coriander, cloves, star anise, fennel, lemongrass, cardamom, lemon and lime amongst its botanicals.
Inspired by a Victorian recipe, the spirit is infused with its organic botanicals in a 20-litre glass jar for 18 hours before bottling.
Butler describes his gin as having a “light, crisp character, which is set to become the drink of choice for the cognoscenti, bringing something extraordinary to every occasion”. He suggests serving it cold with cucumber to garnish.
Hand-signed bottles are available for RRP £31.50 from butlersgin.co.uk.
Butler is offering tastings every Friday at a ‘secret location’ in London’s East End, and onboard his boat during the summer.
In recent months the UK has seen an influx of new gin brands launching, particularly in London.
The capital’s newest distilleries London Distillery Company (LDC) and City of London Distillery (COLD) have both released their inaugural gins, City of London Dry Gin and Dodd’s Gin respectively.
Meanwhile online retailer Master of Malt has created the world’s first gin distilled with cream in collaboration with London bar Worship Street Whistling Shop.
