William Grant’s descendant Peter Gordon (left) helps fill the casks with Glenfiddich Christmas Day whiskyOn Christmas Day 2012 – exactly 125 years since the brand’s founder William Grant first ran the stills – malt master Brian Kinsman filled 125 casks with spirit.
The casks, which were filled by fifth and sixth generation descendants of Grant himself, will be stored in Glenfiddich’s stone warehouses until at least 2032, when it will be tested for bottling.
“Christmas Day 2012 marks a very special birthday for Glenfiddich, so we were inspired to create something unique” said Kinsman. “Casking this Christmas Day whisky means that in twenty years time, if we are lucky and the cask matures as it should, we will have created a limited edition infused with the pioneering spirit of our founding father, William Grant.”
Glenfiddich also built a Christmas tree using 665 whisky bottles at its distillery as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations.
