Pyjama cocktail party thrown for Alan Lodge
By Becky PaskinLondon bar The Folly will be playing host to Nightcap, a pyjama-themed fundraising cocktail party, next weekend in memory of Alan Lodge.
Proceeds from the Last Word cocktail featuring Ardbeg will be donated to the National Brain Appeal
The party, which will raise funds for the National Brain Appeal (NBA), requires guests to attend wearing either their PJs or some form of nightwear. Those turning up without adhering to the dress code will be able to buy a Brain Appeal nightcap for a small donation.
Mixologists at the Drake & Morgan bar on Gracechurch Street, have created a cocktail especially for the event on 10 November from 8pm, with a portion of the profits going to the NBA.
Named “Last Word”, the cocktail will feature Alan’s favourite Scotch, Ardbeg. The Islay distillery has agreed to donate several bottles for the event.
The party will also host a Drinks Business raffle, where revellers could win a bottle of something special.
Guests will be asked to pay a £10 donation on the door – or £13 including a nightcap – to help the charity fund advances in neurology and neurosurgery.
The cocktail party is the latest in a line of fundraising events held by Hannah Lodge, Alan’s sister, who is keeping the memory of the late Spirits Business deputy editor alive by fundraising for the NBA.
““I adored my brother Alan and we all miss him terribly. We can’t change what happened to him but we can help others with neurological conditions – which according to statistics will be one in six of us – by supporting The National Brain Appeal charity.”
Alan Lodge passed away in February this year from a sudden brain haemorrhage.
