The Balvenie reveals new Triple Wood range
Single malt The Balvenie has unveiled its first permanent travel retail range of whiskies: The Balvenie Triple Cask.
The Balvenie Triple Wood range of whiskies includes 12 Year Old, 16 Year Old and 25 Year Old expressions
The new line-up of three products includes 12-year-old, 16-year-old and 25-year-old expressions, created by Balvenie malt master David Stewart, who this year celebrated 50 years working for brand owner William Grant & Sons.
Each of the bottlings is a marriage of whiskies matured in a combination of first fill Bourbon, refill Bourbon and Sherry casks. “Really we’re going back to our roots and getting a traditional vatting,” said Stewart.
He added that his aim had been to capture the honeyed, fruit-forward style of the Speyside malt, with a touch of spice from the Sherry oak.
Exclusive to travel retail, The Balvenie Triple Cask range will be on shelf in airports from April 2013, with pricing yet to be revealed.
“We know from every piece of research we ever do that 50% of the whisky bought in travel retail is bought as a gift, and brand is a key driver of that decision,” said Rita Greenwood, managing director, global travel retail at William Grant.
Meanwhile, the company has also announced that The Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year Old will be given a global release in the coming months.
