Antica creates ‘absinthe with a safety net’

The world’s first absinthe-flavoured Sambuca is set to launch from Antica, providing what the distiller calls “absinthe with a safety net”.

Antica Absinthe Sambuca may help provide a sweeter entry point for the absinthe category

Antica Absinthe Sambuca will combine the brand’s classic Italian Sambuca with traditional absinthe botanicals, including wormwood, green anise and fennel.

Initially launching in the UK in September, the absinthe Sambuca (38% abv) has been described as “a far more accessible spirit” than traditional absinthe, which has a tarnished reputation and an often high abv and price tag to match.

Jeremy Hill, chairman of Hi-Spirits, said: “Absinthe is an iconic spirit, but it also has a reputation which many people find daunting. We’re launching to coincide with the start of the new university year, and we’re already getting strong interest from operators of student venues and town centre bars.”

The launch is supported bby associated POS and a range of suggested serves. It joins Antica’s existing range of 12 Sambucas, including Classic, Amaretto, Apple, Banana, Liquorice, Cherry, Chilli, Coffee, Mandarin, Orange & Mango, Raspberry and Vanilla flavours.

It will be available in the UK through Hi-Spirits in September.
