UV Vodka takes flavoured trend to Spain
By Phoebe BrookesPhillips Distilling Company has announced further European expansion with plans to enter UV Vodka, its range of flavoured vodkas, into the Spanish market this autumn.
The move comes as the latest development in the flavoured vodka trend, which has seen Gannibal’s UK release of its rum-infused vodka in March, the US relaunch of freeze-distilled Frïs Citrus Freeze and Frïs Orange Freeze last month, and Stoli’s roll out of its Hot and Sticki ranges show a demand for flavoured vodkas.
After strong sales in North America, Phillips is now pursuing this opportunity for the company to grow globally.
Katie Alvino, Phillips’ global corporate director of brand marketing, said, “UV Vodka’s innovative selection of flavours has positioned us as a leader in the flavoured vodka category.”
For its launch in Spain, UV Vodka has appointed Latin pop singer Malú as brand ambassador. “She embodies the spirit, beauty and artistic energy that will engage Spanish consumers,” said Alvino.
The Minneapolis-based company launched its flavoured vodkas in the 1950s and now has over 15 flavours including Apple, Cherry, Orange, Citrus, Coconut, Espresso, Vanilla, Lemonade and Cake.
The company expects to sell 1.8 million cases of UV Vodka by the end of 2012.
