The Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 6 whisky destined for US
The Balvenie has revealed the next Scotch edition from its popular Tun 1401 series will be available exclusively in the US.
The Balvenie will release Batch 6 from Tun 1401 to the US shortly
Batch 6 is expected to be bottled within the next few weeks with around 2,500 bottles available.
The single malt Scotch will be a mix of whisky matured in sherry and American oak casks from the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s, and according to Balvenie malt master David Stewart will be “less sherried than Batch 3,” which was also available only in the US.
Its launch follows Batch 5, which was destined for the UK and European markets only. Out of the 2,862 bottles released in July, just a few remain.
Batch 7
Stewart, who celebrates his 50th anniversary working with the William Grant-owned distillery in September, also revealed the next batch from Tun 1401 is likely to be destined for global travel retail, although details are yet to be finalised.
Batch 7, he said, would be a sherried whisky from a number of casks from the 1960s-80s, with a similar taste profile to Batch 4, which was also exclusively available in travel retail.
The Balvenie intends to continue releasing batches from Tun 1401, housed within the distillery’s Warehouse 24, for the foreseeable future.
It will release further details about both batches soon.
