JW Steakhouse creates meaty Jack Daniel’s cocktails

The JW Steakhouse is celebrating the birthday of Tennessee’s most famous whiskey founder with a month of specially created Jack Daniel’s cocktails, a Jack Daniel’s-inspired menu and a free drink for all those called ‘Jack’ or ‘Daniel’.

The Candied Bacon Jack Daniel’s Cocktail at JW Marriott’s Grosvenor House Hotel

The JW Steakhouse, situated within the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, will from 1 September offer bar-goers four limited edition cocktails, three of which are made using bacon-infused Jack Daniel’s single barrel whiskey.

The fourth, called Sweet Tennessee, uses Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, paired with Irish cream liqueur, coffee liqueur and chocolate sauce. SB recommends the Candied Bacon which includes the bacon-infused whiskey, pomegranate juice, Bramley and gage plum liqueur and lemon juice, and comes complete with a slice of candied bacon.

Senior bartender and bourbon enthusiast, Robert Sreter, explained why Jack Daniel’s worked so well with the bacon.

“[Jack Daniel’s] is very mellow and has a soft, naturally sweet flavour that is an obvious – and excellent – match with the saltiness of the bacon. We all [at the Bourbon Bar] worked together on these recipes for September and the results are really great. I think they’ll go down really well!”

The meaty Jack Daniel’s cocktail menu is reminiscent of the carnivorous cocktails created by Shaka Zulu head barman Tony Shafiq in June. They included The Bloody Bacon, Wheeling Salmon and Meatequita.

Sreter is keen to improve the bar’s already large selection of American whiskeys, aiming to bring their total to 100 – they currently stock 51.

The Jack Daniel’s theme is continued in the restaurant with the Flat Iron Steak, which comes with Jack Daniel’s Honey roasted vegetables, followed by apple pancakes with Jack Daniel’s Honey syrup.

During last year’s ‘Jack Daniel’s month’ celebration the restaurant introduced a themed dessert, the Jack Daniel’s Delight, which was so popular it was reintroduced as an occasional addition to the regular menu. Fans of the dark and white chocolate dessert with Jack Daniel’s sorbet will be delighted to hear that it will be back on the menu full time for this September.

Other activities for Jack Daniel’s birthday celebration in the UK include a concert held in a cave in England’s Peak District, known as The Devil’s Arse, available to ticket holders only.
