Pernod CEO’s retirement sparks shake up
Lionel Breton, chairman and chief executive of Pernod Ricard’s Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouet is to retire in October, sparking a series of changes to the management structure at the French drinks company.
Breton will leave Pernod Ricard on 1 October after 30 years at the company, during which time he drove the international development of Martell Cognac since its acquisition from Seagram in 2011.
Following his departure, Philippe Guettat, chairman and chief executive of The Absolut Company, the Sewdish subsidiary in charge of Absolut, Malibu and Kahlua, will take over Breton’s role, leaving his own position to Paul Duffy, currently president and chief executive of Pernod Ricard USA who is based in Stockholm, Sweden.
Guettat has been with Pernod Ricard since 1991 when he joined Renault Bisquit as export sales manager.
Duffy will move into his new position from 1 September, at which point Bryan Fry, current president and chief executive of Pernod Ricard Brasil, will assume Duffy’s former role.
At the same time, current chief financial officer of Pernod Ricard USA Thibault Cuny will assume Fry’s position, and John Nicodemo, chief operating officer of Pernod Ricard Korea, will take over Cuny’s.
