Held in late February (Friday 24 and Saturday 25), the event which is sponsored by soy sauce giant Kikkoman and S&B Japanese food company, aims to get 1,500 members of the public to sample and rate seven different sakes. The most popular will be names Eat-Japan’s sake of 2012.
The seven breweries participating are:
– Asahi Shuzo
– Choryo Shuzo
– Hakkaisan Brewery
– Kawatsura Sake Brewery
– Otokoyama Shuzo
– Takara Shuzo
In addition to the public tasting, IWC sake communicator award winner Natsuki Kikuya will be presenting a seminar at the show to demystify the rice-brewed drink.
For those not so sure about playing jury to the panel of seven sakes, there is a “taste discovery zone” where 30 minutes demonstrations and tastings take place, hosted by a sake sommelier.
