Getting ready for Vodka Masters 2011

Vodka Masters makes a splash

The Spirits Business’ vodka judges are girding their loins as this year’s Vodka Masters approaches.

After the resounding success of last year, the excitement for the 2011 event is mounting. Last year we were overwhelmed by the sheer number of participants – counting just under 120 entries – and were delighted with the quality of the products, as demonstrated by the equally impressive list of awards given.

In addition to being a record breaker in terms of the sheer number of entries, last year’s Vodka Masters stood out thanks to the inclusion of a new category, “Smooth” – a concept that was defined by marketing pro Greg Tucker from The Marketing Clinic.

The ideal smooth vodka finds a balance between waxy fatness and “thin”, clear flavour. Despite initial scepticism about whether or not this would be a popular category, we were impressed with the uptake and moreover with the results – two Masters, four golds and a pair of silvers. Not bad for a first time category!

We’re not the only ones enjoying the success of the Vodka Masters, though, as medal winners enjoy a massive surge in sales as a result of their status.

This year’s Vodka Masters is fast approaching, with only a month before the deadline, so make sure you don’t miss out on the perfect opportunity to pit your product against the others in the category to prove its worth!
