Bacardi to distribute Ron Santa Teresa rum

Venezuelan rum company Ron Santa Teresa has signed an exclusive international distribution deal with drinks giant Bacardi.

Bacardi will distribute Ron Santa Teresa in markets outside of Venezuela

Privately owned Ron Santa Teresa, the oldest rum producer in Venezuela, will retain distribution in its domestic market, while Bacardi will handle its portfolio in all other global markets.

Ron Santa Teresa said it hopes the alliance will enable it to increase exports through a “greater access to markets, clients and consumers”.

The company’s rums are produced at Hacienda Santa Teresa, founded 220 years ago in El Consejo, in the state of Argua, Venezuela. Ron Santa Teresa was the first Venezuelan producer to register a rum brand in the country.

Bacardi has been increasing its presence in the super-premium rum category over recent years. In July 2015, the Bermuda-based company acquired super-premium cocktail rum brand Banks for an undisclosed sum.
