In an industry still pervaded by a largely male force, a number of female distillers have established outstanding reputations and continue to drive spirits quality and excellence.

Whether producing Cognac or Scotch, pisco or gin, women distillers around the world are behind some of the most well loved and critically acclaimed spirits brands.

Some are industry stalwarts and have pioneered cutting edge spirits production for decades, while others are emerging talents and prove undeniably that women can work on an equal footing with their male counterparts, setting an example for future spirits generations.

We already brought you one installment of top female distillers and blenders, but the wealth of talent across the industry certainly warrants another.

  1. Thanks so much for including me–just want to say that Ive only written ONE book. Lots of articles but only one book. Took me 10 years to finish it so I don’t expect Ill ever have time to do that again. Cheers!

  2. Pisco is my favorite Brandy- I agree with Rudyard Kipling who said in1899- that Pisco was compounded by the shavings of cherubs’ wings”.. I just love it. And among all Piscos- the Pisco distilled by the Asher sisters is just amazingly smooth-a Pisco Martini with Yuzu is out of this world and a Pisco Sour to start the evening just great!- Great article. Women are making inroads in this field, but boy I can only imagine how difficult is for passion to defeat pedigree, which men have held for centuries!
