Edinburgh Whisky is to expand its range after securing funding from a Scottish bankThe firm is now planning to release a number of single cask Scotch whiskies inspired by the landmarks of Edinburgh’s Old and New towns.
The brainchild of Gordon Watt and Gregor Mathieson, Edinburgh Whisky launched its inaugural bottlings in August this year.
The first releases were The Advocates Batch from the New Town Blends range, and two single malt cask releases from the Library Collection.
“We’ve been extremely encouraged by the response following our launch, with our whisky already available from a number of our target stockists; so it goes without saying that we’re looking forward to bringing new products to market later this year to build on the current momentum,” said Watt.
“The funding from Clydesdale Bank has come at just the right time, and has allowed us to invest further in the company to help build a solid base from which to grow.
“Whisky is already Scotland’s number one export and we have ambitious plans to tap into the global market through our long term focus on overseas markets.”
The first new single cask whiskies from Edinburgh Whisky will launch later this month.
“Edinburgh Whisky is an exciting new company in Scotland’s dynamic food and drink market,” said Stephen Buchan, head of Clydesdale Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Edinburgh.
“Clydesdale Bank is proud to support businesses looking for opportunities to expand. The move that Gordon and his business have made gives them a secure base which will provide a platform for further growth.”
Edinburgh Whisky’s current ranges are available in Harvey Nichols, Jenners, and Frasers.
