A new mobile app called One Drink One Click has been launched in order to help people monitor their alcohol consumption at the touch of a button.

The One Drink One Click app aims to help consumers keep track of their alcohol intake

Developed by Public Health Wales in collaboration with drink awareness charity Alcohol Concern Cymru – which sponsored the app’s production and rollout – the app is designed to get members of the public thinking more carefully about how much they drink.

Although currently unavailable to Android users, the app informs users how many units a drink contains and measures their data in accordance with healthy alcohol consumption guidelines.

According to figures by the Welsh government, approximately 1,200 people are admitted to hospital each week as a result of alcohol.

The One Drink One Click app will also be used as part of the Have a Word initiative, developed by Cardiff University’s Violence and Society Research Group, which aims to encourage health professionals to offer advice when patients are deemed to be “most receptive”.

There is an abundance of drinking apps on the market, and not just for health reasons, as our list of the Top 10 must-have spirits apps proves.
