Cotswolds Gin poised to enter US market

The new Cotswolds Distillery is preparing to launch its inaugural dry gin in the US after securing a deal with importer MHW Ltd.

The Cotswolds Distillery is preparing to launch its dry gin in the US this spring

The distillery, located in Stourton near Chipping Norton, first began distillation last summer, releasing its inaugural product – Cotswolds Dry Gin – in September.

Plans have been confirmed to first launch the product in New York in April this year. Meanwhile, two export deals have been completed in Germany, Belgium and France.

“We are very excited to be bringing our gin to my hometown of New York so soon after its highly successful UK launch,” said Daniel Szor, founder and CEO of the Cotswolds Distillery.

“The US market represents a significant opportunity for our firm and New York is a great place to start, given the appreciation of craft spirits, ultra‐premium products in general and ‘Made in England’ in particular.

Created using botanicals such as Cotswolds lavender and bay leaf, the gin will be followed by the launch of an English whisky made with local barley in 2017.

It was revealed in December that the distillery was given a grant to “significantly” expand its production capacity for single malt whisky.

As well as an English whisky and rye, The Cotswolds Distillery, which is run by head distiller Alex Davis, formerly of Chase Distillery, will produce a range of brandies and liqueurs.

MHW Ltd, which imports a range of spirits, wines and beers from around the world, claims to be one of the oldest spirits importers in the US.
