First Bourbon distillery in Hardin for 100 years

Hardin County’s first Bourbon distillery in more than 100 years has commenced productionThe Boundary Oak Distillery has now started producing Bourbon after its owners received a federal permit to start distilling in Hardin County, which has not seen legal Bourbon production since the 1890s.
The first barrel of Boundary Oak Bourbon will be available in two years’ time, with the rest of the stock aged for a minimum of four years.
Owned by Brent Goodwin, who is also the company’s master distiller, Boundary Oak Distillery aims to eventually be included on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.
The number of distilleries in Kentucky has tripled in two years to the most seen since the repeal of Prohibition.
There are now 31 licensed distilleries in the state as result of the boom in demand for American whiskey, both from independent and large-scale producers.
It was revealed in September this year that Brown-Forman would be investing US$30 million to double production of its Old Forester Bourbon brand, while Diageo broke ground on its new US$115m Bourbon distillery.
