David Beckham announces global Haig roll-out

David Beckham celebrated the global roll out of his Haig Club whisky at a launch party attended by his business partner Simon Fuller, wife Victoria Beckham and Gordon Ramsay.

The retired football star teamed up with music mogul Fuller and Diageo to launch Haig Club – a single grain Scotch whisky distilled in traditional coffey stills – in April this year.

The product has already been launched in the UK as well as Singapore duty free, but is now available globally.

Speaking at the launch, Nick Morgan, Diageo’s director of whisky, said: “As whisky continues to experience a global renaissance, Single Grain Scotch Whisky – for so long in the shadow of single malts and blends – represents an exciting new direction in Scotch whisky.

“With our unrivalled heritage and expertise in Single Grain Scotch Whisky production, we have seized this perfect opportunity to change the game and add something new and very special to the category.”

Haig Club will now roll out across China, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and the US over the next few weeks, launching in additional markets in the near future.

The whisky, created through a blend of refill, American oak and rejuvenated casks, will be available in duty free shops globally following its exclusive release period in the UK and a limited number of duty free stores earlier this year.

“I am incredibly proud to have been part of the creation of Haig Club, » said David Beckham. “I think we have made something really special. For me it has meant understanding how whisky is made and enjoyed and then working with some incredible people to write a new chapter for Haig.”
