Police have arrested a Chinese businessman for allegedly adding an ingredient found in Viagra into his baijiu stocks.

A Chinese businessman has been arrested over claims he sold baijiu spiked with a chemical found in Viagra

The businessman, known as Mr Huang, has been accused of adding one kilogram of sildenafil, an ingredient found in the anti-impotence drug Viagra, to 750 litres of local Chinese spirit baijiu.

According to China Daily, Huang owns a distillery in Jianshi County, in China’s Hubei Province, purchased the ingredient online in January this year and has been accused of adding to baijiu at his factory since February.

The publication adds that police believe Huang had been adding 130 milligrams of sildenafil to 100 millitres of baijiu, producing a total of 750 litres of spirit.
