The Savoy releases limited edition bottled cocktail

The American Bar at The Savoy has released its latest limited edition pre-bottled cocktail – a classic Manhattan – in Selfridges.

The Savoy hotel has released its latest limited edition bottled cocktail in Selfridges

Just 20 bottles of The Manhattan, part of The Savoy Collection, will go on sale exclusively in the luxury department store at a price of £225.

Eric Lorincz, head bartender of the American Bar, personally created the mix of Martini Gran Lusso Vermouth, Martini Rosso and three Woodford Reserve Bourbon’s including the Personal Selection and Mature Oak expressions.

To complete the cocktail, two different kinds of bitters were added before wood-conditioning the mixture and allowing it to rest in individual glass jars for a month.

The bottling was originally made available from The Savoy only late last year, though the final 20 will launch in Selfridges on 22 May.

“It is fantastic to be collaborating with such an iconic bar on their The Savoy Collection: The Manhattan limited edition bottle,” said Dawn Davies, Selfridges wine and spirits buyer.

“Both the Savoy and Selfridges have such rich histories, it has been an honour to work with them. I am sure this will be a huge success.”

Presented in a dark black bottle within a matching velvet-lined wooden case, The Savoy Collection: The Manhattan is expected to become a “valuable collector’s item”.

Each bottle pours 12 glasses of The Manhattan cocktail. In total, 116 hand-numbered decanters were created.

While The Savoy first began selling limited edition bottles to loyal guests many years ago, the tradition was revived last year with the release of 121 bottles of The 21-year-old Macallan.
